When you consider Wordle's popularity, it's hard for me to say that SaaS is over. I think the quality of the software needs to be top-notch plus it needs to offer something that only a net connected app can offer. I'd say something like networking, having many people connect in some manner. Also, the software has to be completely debugged and it needs to be something more than can be vibe coded in a few hours. Ultimately, it needs to be something that's great to use plus it needs to be something that's easier to pay for than to get AI to create.

I agree with you all the way. I tried to edit my submission to take off the rapscallion link as that’s totally not ready. Originally wanted a dumb dnd map maker that I attached ai too. Even it tho how could it stand on its own with Roblox there’s no way. Drawesome art was is my passion but I wonder if fun website games / experiences aren’t the right thing. I spent ages doing a server side authoritative paint experience. I guess it’s too niche. The only other one I put a lot of effort in was cluekangaroo but that’s also super competitive. You’re right tho bugs are costly.

I think the goal is to reduce the cost of tokens by orders of magnitude similar to the reduction of price on the transistor. So this means that the token processor, a GPU or a replacement, will get much cheaper on a per token basis. So the cycle will continue, more powerful new workhorses and less costly older models. A GPU crash? No, a continued GPU cycle of more usefulness at a lower cost per output is what's coming.

Additionally, the other side effct that people are not talking about is the reduction of cost on a watt of power. We will use more energy per person but the cost per watt will be so much cheaper. The datacenter build out is making electricity more expensive now but over the longer term capitalism has a tendency to make things we use, specially things we use a lot, very cheap on a per unit basis.

True, I am a true fan of the original series and the sequels up to Voyager. I tried watching some of the newer ones, but they all seem to focus on screen action rather than the story. A lot of fast-moving images, explosions, and battles with a very thin story. That might work for a few episodes, but not for a whole series. I don't think the series is without a fix, since the idea of finding new life will always be attractive. But, as always, the writing is what matters for the show, not a never-ending show about flashy battles and cool-looking shots. I hope they find their way back soon.

Star Trek became, essentially, Star Wars. Which is a shame because we already have Star Wars, but there's nothing like what Star Trek was.

Maybe they should hand things over to Seth MacFarlane, he's kept the spirit of Star Trek alive better than Paramount ever could.

I'd like to say yes, but it's not likely. What will probably happen is that software development will change. New high-level development paradigms will appear where AI and humans will be able to develop software that's closer to putting together a puzzle than writing code line by line. Keep in mind, it's only been a few years since the current crop of AIs appeared. There's much more innovation coming.

All that 100x code will be thrown out rather than debugged. What's more likely to come is the age of disposable code.

I agree. It's hard to foresee exactly where this settles, if it settles.

My sentiment is more of a hope than a prediction. The way I see this is - even if AI gets stronger from here, assuming business continue to exist - what will they compete on exactly if all businesses have access to the same level of intelligence? It would again boil down to who is able to harness the power of AI better and that again would require understanding and controlling system complexity i.e. "desloping".

What I observe is that what people don’t seem to grasp is that Zitron isn’t an AI sage. He’s simply someone who figured out that he can get a lot of attention by taking a contrarian stance when it comes to AI.

He can be 100% wrong about AI, but people will still read or listen to his next prediction. At this point, it’s mostly entertainment rather than a source of solid predictions.

Your body has an excellent mechanism for keeping you hydrated, which is thirst. If you drink water (not soda, coffee, tea, or anything else) when you’re thirsty, you’ll be fine.

Most people don’t drink 68-101 oz of liquid a day, but you also get a surprising amount of water from food. Cooked chicken breast is 65% water, for example. Fruit and many vegetables are even more.

Eating water is also better for overall hydration. Drinking more than you need just results in peeing it out and possibly unbalancing electrolytes.

MLMs have to be up there with the biggest scams, ever. My mother was scammed over and over under the guise of friendship. As a kid I remember there was very little money but there was always enough to buy another order of whatever. The ugliest part is that once you become a member you fall into the trap, you become part of the scam and become a scammer too. It's ultimately very sad once you learn it's a legal pyramid that eventually collapses and you're left holding the bag. And your "friends" led you to it.

Since we run a deficit and aren't paying any of it, in less than 14 yrs the debt will double just because of interest accumulated. I think I'm being generous. It will probably take way less time. This can't continue.

That's a hair over 5% interest. As long as the US is also printing enough money to keep inflation at that level, it's not costing anything.

That alone can't cause an economic collapse, but sure can make one much worse.

The costs are still there, with the printer you just change who foots the bill.

With inflation everyone pays including the kids with lemonaid stands simply because the things we all buy get more expensive. I much rather have a fair tax system where those who have more pay a bit more. But that's not how people think so I think we'll see inflation contine plus whatever issues come with that.

My guess is that we'll eventually elect a populist liberal government similar to what happened after the great depression and FDR was elected. Simply because the lower and middle class will be so stressed trying to keep up with inflation that they/we will want a fix where the harder edges of capitalism are soften by government. It going to be interesting

401k's and company's being able to buy their own stock has been a game changer for the stock market. You can't compare the pre 1980 data to today's stock market. As long as money flows into the stock market via 401k's and companies buying their own stock the s&p 500 will continue to flow upwards. There will be panic selling but the market will recover since index funds have to use what money investor's give them no matter which way the market is going. There will be a time when that won't be the case since more people will start to retire and will start to sell but for now the flow is up- in my opinion.
