Maybe not all customs are created equally, but flying between Toronto and the states I have never had to show my phone let alone my social accounts. Also never seen that going up through customs.

Or more specifically, for those paying attention many of us have to come around to the belief that it doesn't really matter who comes after Trump, We need to not be as dependent on the Americans because we can simply no longer trust them not to do it again since they already did it twice.
The issue is simply more pressing for the Canadians because they share a land border, 70% of their trade is with the US and they have threatened annexation.
It's not less pressing really for us Europeans either, a lot of people/politicians have had to ask some awkward questions like "Just how exposed are we to the Americans if they continue on this path" and the answer is one they really don't like.
The world order as it was benefited the Americans and us in myriad ways but they seem to have decided they no long want things that way so it entirely comes down to what we do in response to that.
In some ways an unreliable ally is worse than an enemy because you can generally predict what your enemies intentions will be.
It seems like a lot of Americans get discomfited when you point this out even the ones who don't support Trump/the current US Gov but it's not personal, on the scale of countries it can't really be personal.
We simply can't trust them as a country or as a government as much as we previously could and I don't see that changing for the better in at least a generation if they even want it to.
I think it is support for the actual thing. Functional economies benefit startups, even if the startup is in the US and the functional parts of the market are overseas.
You can invoke CCPA (if applicable) and directly ask a covered business or registered data broker for an exact output of your existing information on their systems. This is honestly rare and most companies will find ways to deny you - asking for various documents to prove your identity and hoping you quit responding.
If you are a CA resident you can also get on the state's DROP platform to request that all registered data brokers delete your data, but it's only for deletion and not the other 4 types of data requests allowed under the CCPA (right to know, right to collect, right to opt out, and right to limit use).
