I switched to LibreOffice just recently, but only because i’d been happy with OpenOffice for years and only recently decided to see if there was an update and found out it had been discontinued in 2011.
It was still working fine for me tbh, but i thought better to update to something newer.
I do wonder if perhaps LLMs take credit from some mathematicians working in obscurity in some dark corner of the web, it’s not unheard of for some to be reclusive. Perhaps someone completely unaware that they might have sovled something someone else considers important.
Ahhh, i had that with my ps5 and a couple of games were terrible in hiqh quality graphics mode, shutting down the ps5, and then through hdmi, would turn off the tv.
Both games weren’t particularly intensive, the one i remember last was divinity original sin 2, but i think both games ran on unity.
Performance mode mostly fixed it, but blowing out several years of dust from the vents properly sorted it out.
That did happen a few times , but Im telling you bro that TV restarted a couple times just as I was about to clutch, like the same second i was about to press a trigger in an otherwise boring 25 minute round more than once, but yes as I mentioned earlier it could be related to other tech aspects.
Allowing more voices on the platform might've made it more toxic (who knows - you're not the judge of toxic) but at least we have left- and right-wing toxicity, instead of only left-wing. And we get a lot of additional non-toxic voices, which was the actual point.

Allowing the nazi voices definitely did. And while that dude isn't the judge of what is toxic, a majority of people are.
I don't know what you personally want to call it when someone posts condolences about a tragedy or massacre killing many people in their home country, and the nazis pop up to reply "you're next, [racial slur omitted]". Pretty sure most people would call that toxic, so it's toxic, even if a small minority of people disagree.

Maybe, maybe not. I don't use BlueSky, are there often people there threatening racially-based killings, with the reporters getting banned? That is the worst for sure.

Indeed, death threats are worse than whatever censorship one claims happened on twitter pre-elmu, because free speech is predicated upon appropriately responding to death threats. Otherwise, speech can be censored with violence, and on twitter, it is now (along with elmu and friends censoring accounts they don't like by banning them).

Adding to this, i think llms are just part of their game, they know well enough they aren’t accurate, but it plays into comments like this, where we’ll think an llm would make a smarter decision, but it’s just a smokescreen, they’re already looking at gaming the bots, musk trying to get grok to abide by his petty worldview is the most obvious ploy. But they’re already obfuscating sources of information as a matter of course, soon, we won’t know anything anymore, we’ll have to trust their machines.
I think they don't want to cut funding to math projects or engineering projects. They want to cut funding to research that goes against their politics. Cutting math research because "inequality" keyword is a bad look for them and just gives free ammo to their opposition. If they employed an LLM that wouldn't happen and they could still pursue their political goals.
I think their fixation on the machine is part accountability-laundering, part obfuscation as you say. They want a monopoly on not just information, but analysis, and breaking all information infrastructure that does not flow through their pet ideology robot is part of that.
Ah jeez, that makes me feel old. It’s particularly impactful as my dad worked in the computer industry at the time of the transition and the firm he worked for were a little late to the game. They limped on for years but ultimately failed.
