That's the problem with these things. Personal preference plays a huge role. And these discussions bring so many people setting their preferences as THE TRUTH.

As someone who's first language is Spanish, that was completely unnecessary. You may ot know but in America Spanish is the 2nd most spoken language, with almost 20% of the population speaking it.
So in a US centric forum, most likely you'll find bilingual people that live in the US.

I want to have an agent that thinks continually/non-stop. Imagine a loop of "train of thought" that goes into the LLM and then out. Keep it going so that it "rumiates" thr way we do.
Then, add some sort of "messages" or IRQs when I want to communicate with it. To ask it things and whatnot. I think that sort of cycle in addition to this learning you are doing is what is missing for real AGI.

I agree so much with this. I keep reading that the general "feeling" of society when an LLM does something gives them independency "it broke away and hacked Huggin Face". Like, no, it did what it was designed to do, but something YOU the developer didn't envision.
Is like the "But most of all, Samy is my Hero" worm, or the plethora of Viruses in Windows 95 or MSDOS that ended up breaking the computers as an (unplanned) effect. The people that implemented them and run them were still responsible.
We need to start holding people developing this software responsible. The same thing happened with Credit Card Payments online: In the beginning was like "ooh, we were hacked!" or whatever. Nowadays (in theory...) if they hack your site and you have Credit Card data YOU are liable.
LLM development companies must grow some... responsibility.
this is about the 4th post I've seen today that's some variation of hacker news without AI. Maybe we need a site to aggregate these together, hn but only the hn without AI posts.
I was also introduced to computer programming using LOGO back in 1989. I remember drawing houses and stick figures in it.
Fast forward around 2010, I gave Agent Based Simulation workshop courses to PhD students using NetLogo , which at the time was very popular in the Social Sciences.
It was very interesting to teach programming to non-tech very intelligent people. Some of them came up with really cool simulation ideas. I loved that part of my career.
It's shitty reporting. The girl "discovered" the effect by herself, devised a way to use it as a project, and shitty newscasters blew it out of proportion [pun intended]
Haha I loved this: in a thread where everybody is talking about the technology, the merits of the kid "discovering" it and all that, invariably there's the guy who enters the room and shouts "why does people care that she is Mexican!!"
Like... nobody cared, until the guy mentions it. And then he replies back "no I don't care she's Mexican, why do you bring their origin!!!"
FWIW I saw these news in my local news Spanish language sources (yep, Im Mexican too) a couple of days ago. And found the majority of the reporting at that time was exactly a "cool science project" thing.
When I saw it here on HN I was surprised. I even thought like "wow, maybe I didn't put a lot of attention, and it's something bigger". But apparently it's just sloppy reporting, in a telephone-game kind of thing: Some Chilean news saw the headline, and decided to report it as "Mexican 16yo invents X", which draws clicks. Then English based news took it and further deformed the actual facts.
Hopefully this kid gets invited to some podcasts or whatnot and gets something from this. Also hopefully it helps other kids get more interested in sciency projects.
